Summer Camp Instructor - Wilderness Skills
Dates: July 6th - July 17th (No camp on Saturday or Sunday)
Camp runs approx 8:30-5:30 M-F with a few additional hours for equipment and van maintenance.
Compensation: $26-$30/hour DOE; room available for duration if housing is needed. 50% off tuition for dependents.
Description: Come lead our Adventure Club - Wilderness Skills edition! Adventure Club is a one of a kind summer camp based in Sacramento, CA. We pick up campers in our Withywindle van and drive them to all the amazing nature spots around Sacramento, the Sierras, and the Bay.
Our wilderness skills weeks have an additional focus on learning primitive wilderness & survival skills. We are looking for someone with knowledge/experience with some or all of the following: animal tracking, nature awareness, foraging and edible plants, building fires, knife safety, finding & purifying water, building shelters, staying warm, basic first aid, etc. The specific curriculum and destinations, and curriculum will be planned collaboratively based on your skill set and desires.
Campers range from 6-12 with the majority being around 8/9. Maximum of 12 kids with two adults and possibly a teen aide.
REQUIREMENTS:
Pass a LiveScan background check
Wilderness First Aid Certified
Clean DMV Record
Knowledge or experience working with children -must demonstrate an understanding of child development)
Must know how to gut a fish (specific request from a camper.)
Adventure Club - Teacher
Starting Fall 2026 (possible summer work available)
The Adventure Club van goes to a different school each day to pick up kids and bring them to nature spots around Sacramento. This is a brand new program launching in March 2026! Implement fun science and nature based curriculum and facilitate deep play. Possibility for leadership role in the 2026/2027 school year.

Schedule: 16-20 hours/week, M-Th afternoons

Pay: $20-$23/hour with 50% tuition discount for dependents
​
Qualifications: MUST HAVE A CLEAN DMV RECORD! Understanding of child development (through ECE units or experience) curious and excited about nature, capable of walking up to a mile a day/carrying a classroom on your back.

Bonus: Ecology or Science education, experience in elementary age/outdoor education, knowledge of wilderness skills
